There will be a small charge for the cleaning and bagging of your catch. All Saginaw Bay trips start at 8:00 a.m., as it's been my experience that 9:00 till 3:00 is the best time.

Early Spring, or Winter Saginaw River and Tittabawassee River Walleye. My18 ft. smokercraft, equiped with a Yamaha jet-drive outboard is perfect for shallow river walleye.
Pere Marquette River salmon
Pere Marquette River Trips available: From 1986 till 2001 I chartered on the Pere Marquette River for both Salmon & Steelheads out of my ClackaCraft Drift Boat under the guiding name of Steelie Dan's River Charters. I then ran my SmokerCraft Jet Boat for Kings a few years after that for strickly Salmon. Then because of other interests, quit doing it for a few years. I've decided to book trips and run Salmon trips again on the Pere Marquette River out of my Jet Boat. These trips will be booked for the prime Salmon fishing times on this river. Which will include the last week of August to the 15th of September. The techniques used will be mostly casting Crankbaits, with some possible Bobber fishing with raw Salmon spawn. Trips will be 7 hours and $350.00 per couple.

  Fish for all Seasons

In the summer months ,
We fish Saginaw Bay for walleye.
Trolling crankbaits or harnesses in a relaxed atmosphere is  the motis-oper-endi here. The walleye in Saginaw Bay are hardier than anywhere on the Great Lakes.

Walleye action on the Bay starts with Post spawn fish in late April, and heats up as the weather warms. Each year can be different given weather, fish population and migration patterns.

Usually later in the summer, as the near shore Saginaw Bay waters warm, the walleyes will move off-shore into the deeper/cooler waters of the Bay. But how fast this happens every year often varies. In recent years, even the Saginaw River itself has stayed productive well into early summer, given how fast or slow the waters warm. But (in general) the near shore fishery stays quite productive, often into the months of late June to Mid-July. During this time and often in those circumstances, a bigger boat can often be the worst platform to maneuver and/or fish from when targeting shallower/closer to shore or river walleyes. That's when my SmokerCraft Jet Boat shines.

Dan specializes on the Saginaw and Tittabawassee Rivers during the Spring, Fall and Winter, "weather permitting". .Pre and Post-spawn river walleye is your best chance to intercept a true wall-hanger.
